The Office Chair Grand Prix Is the World's Most Winnable Grand PrixBy: Grant Marek
Oh, this is just the world's premiere office chair race.
What's an office chair race?
Oh, it's just a thing where you sit in an office chair and -- while seated -- run as fast you can around a 590ft city course for two hours straight like so:
We know what you're thinking: "Why is 'abbreviated' such a long word??" and also "how the heck does anyone do this for two hours straight????" Well, turns out the 6-year-old Office Chair Grand Prix in Kyoto, Japan allows you to compete in teams of three, which means 1) you can tag-team out any time you reach the finish line, and 2) you can complete A LOT of laps -- this year's winners did more than FIFTEEN MILES worth.
Protective gear is required ('cause there's basically no way to go backwards in an office chair for 15 miles without eating it a few times), chairs are inspected before the race (you can't modify the chair in any way beyond greasing the gears and adjusting existing pieces), and the winner gets... 200lbs of rice.
PLUS THE TITLE OF OFFICE CHAIR GRAND PRIX WORLD CHAMPION.
